We, Terravine Growers, wish to provide you an assortment of sustainably grown vegetables and you, the member, wish to receive a portion of our harvest. This agreement outlines our shared commitments to that relationship.
Terravine Growers’ CSA
A Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is a relationship between our farm and you as our customer. Rather than simply purchasing food, our customers become “members” of this CSA who receive a portion of the farm’s harvest. Our shares are delivered weekly during the CSA season in a re-usable crop box that easily flattens between deliveries. Members are responsible for showing up at their designated pick-up location or the farm to pick up their share.
Our Growing Practices
We make a commitment to grow and harvest vegetables using sustainable methods, such as using inputs that do not contain harsh chemicals or synthetic products, using organically sourced seeds and seedlings, using low- and no-till practices, and by using traditional weeding techniques instead of pesticides. Although we do not have the government certification to label our vegetables “certified organic,” our shareholders can be assured that Terravine Growers is committed to using organic, sustainable methods of growing and harvesting your herbs/vegetables and tending for our farmland.
Terravine makes every effort to follow good agricultural production and handling practices.
Our produce is field rinsed, if necessary, then sorted, and prepared for distribution. While our produce is generally ready for eating out of the box, it is your responsibility to thoroughly wash all produce items received in your box before eating to ensure maximum food safety.
In the same way that we are growing a sustainable farm, we are growing a business that will strengthen the local food economy and nourish our community for years to come. Terravine Grower’s mission is to educate people in the importance of environmental stewardship and healthy food, to reconnect us to the land and our local sustainable food supply, and to inspire us to take action in our daily lives and in our communities. We are also equally committed to creating inclusive workplaces for adults with disabilities while breaking down stereotypes that exist about members of the disability community. At Terravine, our focus is not on disability but on capability and each produce item that comes in your box is grown with that spirit as well.
Our Shared Commitments
Terravine Growers is committed to producing high quality produce. We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share. We cannot guarantee any one item due to unexpected issues affecting the quantity and quality of each crop. By purchasing this program, you are agreeing that you understand that this is a community-supported venture and that there are risks in agriculture that need to be shared with the whole community. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members. In the unlikely event of a crop failure, we will do our best to compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown that are ready for harvest at that time. In addition, we may source a sustainably grown item from a neighboring farm or orchard.
Pickup/Delivery of Shares
CSA members agree to pick up their share at the farm or other designated pickup locations. You are responsible for observing our pickup/on-site rules, which are as follows:
- Pick up your share within the time frame stated. Your share each week will come in a reusable crop box. We ask that you clean your empty crop box each week and bring it back to your pickup/delivery site to exchange for a full crop box.
- Follow additional rules posted at your pick-up site regarding parking/use of certain entrances, be respectful of our pick-up site hosts’ property. If you cannot pick-up your share, you must arrange for someone else to pick it up for you. You are responsible for explaining the pick-up location and procedures to your substitute. As a member, I commit to pick up my weekly produce share as scheduled, or send someone in my place, per agreement with Terravine Growers CSA. I understand that shares that are not retrieved within the pick-up time will be donated to the local food bank.
- You are welcome to split a share with one or more people and have a different person pick up your share. Just let us know if there will be more than one person authorized to pick up your share so we know who we’re giving your share to.
By selling memberships in advance of the growing season, CSA’s reduce the burden of up-front costs for the farmer. Your membership fees provide us with money to purchase growing supplies before the season starts, and we appreciate your commitment.
If you choose to pay the membership fee by check, please remit a check for your total made payable to Terravine Growers and mail to 300 Bare Road, Ellensburg WA 98926. We accept cash at the farm and credit card payments online or over the phone. We add a 2.93% surcharge to credit card payments to help us cover the Square credit card processing fees.
Members may cancel their share for a full refund on or before May 20, or a 50% refund after May 20, 2019 by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling us at (206) 920-2092. Refunds are not given once the CSA season has started. However, members may recruit new members to take over their shares and arrange to receive payment from the people whom they recruit.
Payment plans are available for credit card customers only. For members using a payment plan, setup will initially occur by filling out the form on the Terravine Growers website. Upon filling out the form, a Terravine Growers staff will reach out to you to set up the recurring payments over the phone. The payment plan will divide the regular cost of a CSA into 3 payments (see table below). Upon each payment, a 2.93% processing fee will be applied. The first payment is a 40% deposit which is due upon sign-up. The second payment will be automatically billed* on June 11 – the day before the first CSA delivery in 2019. The third and final payment will be automatically billed* on August 11 – midway through the 2019 CSA season. You will receive an email receipt from Square after each payment as well as reminders about upcoming payments.

*If you are selecting to pay using a payment plan, the credit card with which you pay your deposit over the phone upon sign-up will be stored and kept on file in order to automatically bill the remaining two payments. Our payment plan is designed to help members manage the cost of the share. By joining the Terravine Growers CSA, you are committing to paying the full price of your selected CSA share. Terravine Growers communicates with its members mainly through email. When you sign up, you will be added to our email list. CSA members are strongly encouraged to open and read emails from us. In addition to important communication regarding your CSA subscription, you will receive a weekly newsletter giving you information about the crops, recipe ideas, your farmers, and other farm related news.
The best way to communicate with us is via text to the farm manager at (206) 920-2092, or via email to email@example.com. The best times to reach us are between 8am-4pm Monday-Friday. We will do our best to respond as soon as possible, but please understand that we spend most of our time in the field growing your food.
Please contact us with any news of the following during the season: changes to your postal or email address, changes to your pickup/delivery location, changes in the credit card on file or any issues with your share. We also appreciate any suggestions or comments as they help us know what we are doing well and what we can improve upon.
When signing up for a Terravine Growers CSA, an online account will automatically be made for you which is accessible through our website. Through your online account, you will be able to view your orders, review and/or update your personal information such as your billing address and shipping address and change your account password. At Terravine Growers, we respect your privacy and make sure the security of your personal information is our highest priority. We will never use your personal information in any way except for what is outlined in this policy and your personal information will never be sold or shared. Your personal information will be used solely to support your experience throughout the Terravine Growers website, to manage access to account, and for the payment of your share.
By submitting your Terravine Growers CSA registration, you agree to purchase a Terravine Growers membership share and abide by all terms of this agreement. You agree that you understand that, although unlikely, the farm may change parts of this agreement related to production and distribution and understand that we will contact you via email in advance of any changes to this agreement.
