To all of our customers, community members, farming friends, and support staff – thank you for a fantastic CSA season!
This season was filled with bounty from early spring crops like radishes, kale and turnips to peak summer produce like tomatoes, peppers and eggplant, to the hearty fall crops like winter squash, pumpkins, onions and potatoes. We enjoyed planting, tending to and harvesting each of the crops you received in your boxes this season and hope you enjoyed eating them!
This season, the Terravine Growers expanded their work knowledge and expertise around the farm. From packing the CSA boxes, harvesting lettuce heads, processing vegetables, delivering produce to our restaurant partner, The Lunchbox Cafe, to broadforking the fields, this season has been one filled with growth, independence, and sustainability.
We also welcomed two new support staff from The Trellis Center this season – Jess Greenwood and Ginger Marsicano – to assist the Terravine Growers in accomplishing their work goals around the farm. In addition, two new farmers joined our team – Carson and Lucas. Carson brings unmatched energy to the farm and his passion for cooking. Lucas comes to Terravine with previous landscaping experience and we are eager to see him grow over the course of this winter and next season!
As a farm built for and run by adults with disabilities, we don’t shy away from looking at farming differently, trying new things, making mistakes and constantly learning. It is our mission to cultivate a healthy future for the earth, our community and ourselves and we work towards that goal every day.
As we deliver our last CSA boxes, we continue to work the land before the ground completely freezes. We are adding rich compost to our soil, preparing garden beds for next spring, planting garlic to overwinter, and transitioning our hydroponic lettuce system to growing lettuce heads for local restaurant customers. If you are interested in purchasing lettuce from us this winter, please email email@example.com to place your order today!
Again, we thank each and every one of you for supporting Terravine Growers this season. Without you our work would not be possible. We hope you have enjoyed this season as much as we have and we look forward to delivering you fresh, sustainably grown produce again next year!
